The Nursery
For over 20 years there has been a small, family run, specialist
plant nursery at Ash Tree Farm. We have always grown more
unusual plants which are not readily available in the average
garden centre and we can of course, share our experience and
knowledge to help our customers.
We specialise in growing plants which we know do well in this coastal area of Devon, grown locally and sold locally, both here at the nursery and at local farmers' markets and plant sales.
Plants which encourage wildlife to the garden are another of our specialities, these include Herbs and traditional Cottage Garden Plants and shrubs such as Buddlieas and the traditional Old Fashioned Roses.
Pam Gregson joined us here in 2007 when she moved her wildflower business 'Wild About Flowers' to the Ash Tree Farm Nursery. The nursery is now the only supplier of locally grown British Native Wildflowers left in Devon.
Jenny Rogers has now expanded the family business to include growing and selling young Vegetable Plants too. Again we try to offer something different, with Jenny growing Heritage and more unusual vegetable varieties.
Garden advice and consultation visits are another service we can offer to our customers and we still continue to run our successful local landscaping business.
Having been regular speakers for institutions and garden clubs, about gardening matters, for many years. We have this year, changed the nursery layout to include teaching facilities where we can now offer garden related courses which are open to the public. In conjunction with 'Learn Devon' and the 'AONB' we have run a series of successful course covering a wide range of topics including 'The Kitchen Garden' and 'Creating a Wildlife Friendly Garden'. Many more courses are planned for the rest of the year.
